Throughout 2017 our Funeral Director Daren Persson raised an incredible £2,850 for national charity, Cash for Kids, which was then increased to £3,850 after our funeral plan provider ‘Choice Plans’ donated another £1000.
In 2017, Daren had the honour of being captain at his local golf club, Percy Wood in Northumberland, which meant he was able to select the chosen charity for the year.
Daren said: “I decided to choose Cash for Kids because of the charity’s community spirit, so to raise the money I held a number of golf days, auctions and social events.
“We even designated a charity bunker on the golf course with a £1 penalty every time a ball landed there – needless to say, a few hundred pounds was raised with this alone!
“I must thank my fellow golfers at the club and everyone who donated for their dedication, generosity and help throughout the year.”
Cash for Kids is Bauer Radio’s network of local charities, which operate across 22 areas around the UK.
Their mission is to respond to the needs of children in their communities and aspire to enable all children to live life to the full and achieve their individual potential.
Although the charity has locations nationally, each local charity guarantees that the generous donations made by radio listeners will go towards bringing hope, healing and happiness to children in their community who are suffering from abuse or neglect, who are disabled and have special needs or who simply need extra care or guidance.
The charity said: “We were absolutely overwhelmed to receive such a phenomenal donation, not just because of the sum of money, but also for the silent generosity, the hard work and fundraising efforts committed by Mr Persson, his staff and all the Percy Wood golf club members without our knowledge.
“They committed time and effort to fundraising without asking for any support or acknowledgement and have raised a substantial amount of money that will make a huge difference to the local community.
“From all of Cash for Kids, we’d like to say a big thank you for all your efforts!”
